Safe Flying

As any pilot should tell you, safety is the first priority in flying.

What does that mean, exactly? Plenty of words have been written, but nothing in life is risk-free, so "safety" is a state of minimized risk using proactive risk analysis and risk reduction techniques.

Since flying is not a natural act for humans, we need to make special effort not to get lost in the joy of conquering this fact by using risk analysis and reduction to take the human lives aloft and bring them safely back to their native habitat.

dnPictures expects to do "air-to-air" photos for our customers during formation flight. This activity has a high level of safety risk, so we will only participate in this work under strict standard operating procedures and thorough pre-briefing and coordination among all parties involved prior to the flight. Formation flying is a special skill that requires pre-planning, the right weather conditions, and continuous communication.

David Nuss' formation flying experience was in the U.S. Army in helicopters as big as 11 tons' weight, including night flight with night vision goggles and external loads hanging below the aircraft. Overall, David holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate, is training to be a Certified Flight Instructor, and has logged the equivalent of 20 weeks, 24/7, aloft.
